Chickadees and Lilacs - Acrylic (Dimensions Paint by Number)

Completed in August 2012

Finished size 11" x 14"

This is my second painting from Dimensions Paint By Number!

I am completely impressed and satisfied with the result of this painting. Since I had applied double layers to every spot of the canvas, I would say this is more detailed and precise than my previous one. Same as last time, I could spend a whole day sitting still on my chair and keep painting until I need to feed my stomach or go to the bathroom!

The theme of birds and flowers are always my favorite, however, this particular was not the one I really wanted in the first place. I love the one called "Garden Bluebirds" from Dimension Paintworks which has a pair of bluebirds standing on the birdhouse surrounded by beautiful pink color flowers. Never thought these Chickadees could take over my heart... I absolutely love the colors combination and how amazingly the blue would contrast with the purple! I would love to show you more details in the followings:

Lovely couple singing in the nature...

The way it posed like looking through the faraway end...

Close up to the bottom one - please note that I did not apply black acrylic but use the black ink Pigma brush pen instead. The reason is because of the very tiny areas are hard to be painted perfectly by a #0 round brush with acrylics. I found Sakura Pigma brush pen is more easily controlled and I don't need to worry about the very rapid drying pace of acrylic paints.

Below are how it was completed:

Background is done by my so-so dry brush technique

Finished most of the leaves

Added the blues flower buds

Added purple flowers

It is done! What a peaceful lovely picture!
